It's 2 AM here in NYC - and I'm still in the office working! These are sacred hours. I know my competitors are all asleep, and I'm at work! It feels delicious - does that make sense?
I recent saw the movie Dr. Strange - it's really good, you guys should check it out. One exchange stuck with me:
Dr. Strange: How do I get from here to there?
The Ancient One: How did you become a doctor?
Strange: Study and practice. Years of it.
From "here to there" means acquiring superpowers. That's how you get your basketball super powers too. Study and practice - years of it.
And you do a lot of that study and practice in "these sacred hours." When are the sacred hours? Early in the morning or late at night - when your foes are still in slumber. But not only those times, the sacred hours can be in broad daylight. When everyone is at the beach or the mall - you are in the gym alone. When everyone is at a lunch, you are in the weightroom. It can be on holidays - go to the courts on Christmas Day and get a workout in! It's magical!
I hadn't planned on sharing anything tonight, I just felt like writing this and sending it out to you guys.
Be a legend.
There is something so satisfying in working on yourself longterm, whether it is basketball or life. In fact, while I'm at it, I wanted to tell you, I'm starting another little blog for die-hard BasketballBrain fans. Check out LifeMaxedOut.com if you want to learn more about me and what I do! It is like mental training for life! I can tell you how I built several companies, and most importantly, the mental training I do to be happy every single day!
